When the right and opportune moment comes for speaking, say something that will edify. ~Thomas a Kempis
My word for 2023
(Last published, 1/1/23)
Many of you know that every year I pick a word that is kind of my growth word for the year. Last year’s word was “release.” I did a lot of releasing last year. It’s an ongoing process, but I really felt like I made progress in this area in 2022.
This year’s word is “done.” I have several reasons for picking this word, but it’s not because I’m done. Not by a long shot! One of the reasons I picked this word is because I have everything I need to move forward. Let me explain. A pastor I know once said that most people are educated beyond their obedience. That is, for the most part, we know what to do in just about every area of our lives, we just don’t always do it. I know what I need to do to lose weight, to keep my house clean, to be more rested, to help my family, to have good relationships, etc. I’ve read tons of books, listened to hundreds of podcasts, watched hours of YouTube videos, gone to many classes, believe me. I know what I have to do.
While I will continue learning, I won’t pretend that I don’t have enough information to do what I need to do. I will probably need more information as I advance, but I certainly have enough to move from where I am.
What information do you already have that can help you move forward in different areas of your life? Maybe for now, you’re done too.
